Ron Diamond

Retired engineer. Author of How to Load a Dishwasher.

Ron Diamond spent thirty-four years consulting on municipal water treatment facilities, industrial pumping infrastructure, and thermal reservoirs across New England before retiring to coastal Maine. He does not consider this volume humor. Over an engineering career spanning wastewater treatment plants and deep municipal conduit systems, he kept quiet field notebooks on domestic mechanical wear and hydraulic impingement.

The book began on an unremarkable Tuesday evening following a dinner for six. Watching dinner plates loaded contrary to fluid velocity vectors, Ron realized the contention at kitchen sinks was never about cleanliness; it was an unacknowledged failure of geometry. Family members packed concave vessels against spray shadows, treated perimeter tines as suggestions, and expected laminar clearance where none had been calculated.

He resides in Brunswick, Maine, with his wife, two standard poodles, and an undisturbed Bosch 800 Series with precision water softener integration. He does not offer speaking tours, nor does he accept consulting inquiries regarding consumer appliance selection, except by postal correspondence.

“Water is an unyielding master of physics. It does not navigate a nested soup spoon simply because you wished it clean.”
- Ron Diamond, Chapter 3: The Myth of Rinse-Aid Omnipotence
